The central heating programmer allows you to set the time at which the central heating can go on and off.
Modern central heating programmers are usually combined with a room thermostat, and known as programmable room thermostats. As well as setting the times for the heating, it also allows you to specify what the temperature should be. You can set different temperatures at different times and days. Many people find setting these programmers quite complicated, but if you do it carefully you can save a significant amount off your heating bill by making sure you are not heating your home when you don't need it.
