You home is probably suitable if you have:
2 to 5 square metres of southish facing roof space (i.e. south or southeast to southwest facing), that has little or no shading during the day
Space to locate a hot water cylinder if you don't currently have one.
Solar panels perform best when mounted facing south at an angle of between 25 and 65 degrees. This is the angle of most roofs in the UK. They can also be mounted on flat roofs, using a simple frame to set them at the best angle.
Solar hot water systems generally work well in partnership with regular or system boilers. They do not generally work well with combi boiler systems; installation with these usually involves extra cost.
To produce completely zero carbon heating and hot water, you should combine your Solar Hot Water system with a wood-burning (biomass) boiler.
